Will Easton Area students, staff have to wear masks to school? Find out Tuesday.

The Easton Area School Board will revisit the question Tuesday of whether to require students and staff to wear masks when they return to school in two weeks.

Superintendent David Piperato said last month he favors a mask-optional policy, but circumstances keep changing due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Northampton County and changing guidance from experts.

The transmission rate in the county is high, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged masks indoors in counties where community transmission of COVID-19 is considered substantial or high. The CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics have also recommended universal masking for all K-12 students, staff and school visitors.
